There will always be an Italy, 🇮🇹 surely
Early this morning walking through insomnia streets I caught up telephonically with Paolo De Toma, our dear friend from Warner days— he was in great spirits and we shared some hearty laughs, as usual. And then I got around to one of the main reasons for my call— to find out the name of the hugely popular, strange to us Americans, sportsfan show that the guys had played in some studio 15 or 20 years ago. I could not remember the name of the show and after searching through all my postcard from the road from Milan, I couldn’t find any reference to it and I knew Paolo would know.
Of course he did and here is the song Bad Day 🎸 on that bizarre but fun Sunday afternoon football fan show in 2003, Quelli Che Il Calcio (watch to the end as the interview is a scream):
Strangely prescient….
“Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, Lord
Count your blessings
We’re sick of being jerked around
We all fall down“
…for a song written in the mid-1980s, but not the first time— I hear End of the World has re-entered the iTunes charts for the first time in a while!
Anyway, thinking of all our friends in Italy, praying for good health, help for those who need it, and that this too shall pass— and trusting that we will all come out of this better on the end of it in ways large and small
Ciao and buongiornio! 🇮🇹
